Battling fuel cost rises

According to a recent study from motoring body the AA, your local supermarket may be unfairly overcharging you at the petrol pumps.

Plus, those in more rural areas could be hit even harder - by as much as 10p and 15p a litre!

But how can you keep fuel costs down when they keep climbing? At Fair for You we’ve put together a selection of handy tips.

Basic Maintenance

Did you know that carrying out a few simple maintenance steps on your car could save you cash?

From clearing out your car to keeping your tyres inflated, our recent blog post on ‘Ways to Save Money on Fuel’ explains them all.

Find Cheap Fuel in Your Area

Websites and apps such as PetrolPrices.com help you to compare prices locally in just a matter of seconds.

All you need to do to get started is register, enter your postcode, town or city, and how far you're willing to travel. It could save you roughly £11-£12 on filling up a typical family car. Plus, it’s completely free to use!

Try Sharing the Driving

One simple way to save cash on fuel is to share driving duties with friends and colleagues. There are sites like Liftshare and BlaBlaCar that connect people doing the same journey so you can split the expense.

Of course, safety is key! Make sure you meet someone in a public place for the first time, let friends and family know what you’re doing and check the other person’s ID to make sure they are who they say they are.
