Turn2Us found that almost half of people in low income households aren’t claiming welfare benefits or tax credits that they’re entitled to.
People told Turn2Us that it’s because that they didn’t know where to check, that they thought it would be too difficult to apply and that they didn’t think they would even be eligible.
This was highest for full and part time workers, which suggests that a lot of people don’t realise that they can get benefits that exist to top-up low incomes.
This is why Turn2us launches its 2016 Benefits Awareness Campaign, to help people find access to the welfare support they may be entitled to.
It’s free and confidential Benefits Calculator could get you what you need.
How Fair for You Can Help
If you do find any grants, welfare benefits or tax credits that you’re entitled to you can use the extra income to get the household essentials you need from us.
Our decisions are partly based on affordability, so if you believe you can afford loan with your new income then it is worth a second application. A failed application with us in the past is not viewed negatively if you want to apply again in the future.
